David is a retired Veterinary Surgeon, with a professional interest in treating wild animals and birds, particularly Owls and Raptors. He also farmed seventy acres of hill near Banchory, for 25 years. As this was a site of special scientific interest, he was involved in small deciduous plantations, improvement of existing ponds and protection of high level bogs and marshlands. With many friends who were professional foresters, David learned learned a lot!
He was also a Director of a Charitable Animal Rescue centre in Aberdeen, and later became a Trustee of The Village Hall in Skelmorlie. His interest in the Culduthel Woods began when he moved to Inverness. He walks his dogs in the woods almost every day and once the Culduthel Woods Group was formed, he wanted to be involved.
